CEO says VimpelCom may revise estimate of expenses on data law

MOSCOW, Apr 16 (PRIME) -- Russian mobile operator VimpelCom, working under the Beeline brand, may revise its 45 billion ruble cost estimate for five year to implement the data retention law after 2019, CEO Vasyl Latsanych told reporters on Tuesday.

“(MTS’) costs were initially higher than ours. This is why we think some revisions could take place. But since tender processes are still under way and subcontractors on systems have not been chosen yet…We stick to the amount mentioned because we did not exceed it,” Latsanych said.

“Still we can adjust it at the end of the year after we’ve done most of purchases. (Subcontractors) could confirm the price or change it.”

In March, MTS reduced its spending outlook to 50 billion rubles for five years from 60 billion rubles.
